Do not let our circumstances dictate how we worship God but let our worship dictate how we live in these circumstances.
| — | Pastor Mel Caparros |
From what I learned, the ten commandments is like a mirror of our shortcomings. It’s there to remind us that we’re sinners and we need God’s rules and guidance thru the ten commandments. As Paul mentioned in Romans that the law is useless cuz we could not attain perfection cuz some believe that we’re save because of the law. But it is thru Christ that we’re saved and the law is just a mirror.
To our unbeliever friends, we simply tell them that they need to be a Christian so that they can enter the kingdom of God (heaven). They must be born-again to enter the kingdom.
| — | James Castaneros on the questions 1) What do you think is the purpose of the Ten Commandments? and 2) What would you say to nonbelievers why they should become a Christian? |
Well the Ten Commandments at 10 laws that God gave to Israel. These commandments are a basic summary of the over 600 laws of the Old Testament. The purpose i think is to prove to us that we can never perfectly follow God laws therefore we need his mercy and grace. They show us that we have all sinned and need JEsus Christ.
To be blunt on your second question I would say that Jesus is the way the truth and the light and without him you will not go to heaven. It is cut and dry :)
2. Christ is so much more than I can explain and I cannot sell him, but a life with Him is more satisfying than any relationship I have ever had and I know that He has lead me to grow in righteousness and He has comforted me during my trials... I know He has strengthened me to face the world... and I know He can do the same for you.
thank you for answering my questions.
Bahala na Sovereignty of God
-impersonal -personal
(Impersonal in the sense that people believe that whatever happens is brought about by some external forces while in the Sovereignty of God, whatever happens is part of God’s plan and Him working in our lives.)
-victims of circumstance -we submit to a loving God
-we accept (passive) -we respond (active)
-we seek for luck -we seek after God Himself
-we use rituals -we worship God
-we trust objects -we trust the living God
-we live in fear -we rest in God’s loving hands
