Matthew 2:10 When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. (NRSV)

Finding Christ

The wise men were overjoyed with finding the child.  If you think becoming a Christian means putting on a long face and behaving like a person in a straitjacket, think again.  Finding Christ brings real joy—deeper than winning at sports, more enduring that the first test drive in that new car—this joy fills the soul and makes you glad.  This joy comes from knowing all is well, you’re OK, God loves you, the future will be secure.

Have you been on a journey to find yourself, to find love, satisfaction, or some sense of what this life is all about? There’s joy at the end of that journey when you find Christ.

“Anyone who serves God must

(c) be committed to winning others’ release from sin’s grip
(d) accept personal suffering, and
(e) rely completely on God for guidance and strength.” — The Bible Reader’s Companion

Do not let our circumstances dictate how we worship God but let our worship dictate how we live in these circumstances.

“(NKJV) 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, [18] while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

“What do you think of Christ? A wrong answer will lead you to hell. A correct answer from the bottom of your heart, in line with your mind and done with genuine faith and genuine repentance will lead you to the very gates of heaven.” — Pastor Mel Caparros

“Ambition is good if it is in line with the will of God” — Pastor Jiji, ACES Bible Study

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” — …live by faith
